James Mitchell, PhD, teaches Mindfuness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) classes and leads the Mindfulness Alumni Programs at the Osher Center. He focuses on the connection between and application of psychology, philosophy and mind/body practices for health and well being. He has a PhD in East-West Psychology and has trained in MBSR with Drs. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Robert Stahl at the Center for Mindfulness.

In addition to teaching MBSR at the Osher Center, he also teaches mindfulness in UCSF’s Department of Surgery, and he is Adjunct Faculty in the departments of Health Education and Nursing at San Francisco State and Samuel Merritt Universities.
