James Mitchell, PhD focuses on the psychological connection between and application of science and eastern philosophy, combined with training in Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Drs. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Robert Stahl.  James has taught mindfulness-based interventions in Bay Area addiction treatment centers and is also adjunct faculty in the departments of Health Education and Nursing at San Francisco Sate and Samuel Merritt Universities.

James received his doctorate degree in East-West Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS); and his MA degree in Clinical Psychology from Duquesne University. In addition to teaching MBSR classes, he also leads the Mindfulness Alumni Programs at the Osher Center.
