Upon successful completion of this workshop, the participants will be able to:

  • Explain the Ayurvedic concepts related to the causes, evaluation and management of acute and chronic pain
  • Use Ayurvedic herbs, herbal formulas, nutrition and diet therapy to prevent and treat acute and chronic pains of various types
  • Describe Pancha Karma cleansing used to treat acute and chronic pains of various types
  • Use Ayurvedic lifestyle  and Yoga approaches to prevent and treat acute and chronic pains of various types
  • Describe Ayurvedic approach to Headaches, Migraines, Low back pains, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteo-arthritis.

vivekDr. Vivek Shanbhag, ND, MD (Ayurveda), BAMS, CYEd.
Dr. Shanbhag is a Licensed Naturopathic Doctor, Ayurvedic Practitioner, professor, and author. He is the Founder & Director of Natural Medicine Clinic, Academy and Wellness Spa with locations in San Jose, Mountain View and Los Gatos.

For more than 30 years, he successfully ran various Ayurveda & Naturopathy institutions in USA & India. From 1989 through 2006 in Seattle, he was the Founder and Director of the AYU Ayurvedic Wellness Centre Academy, Clinic and Spa. From 1991 to 1996, he was the Chairman of the Ayurvedic Medicine Department at the Bastyr University in Seattle, and from 1985 to 1988, he was the head of the Ayurvedic Research Institute, Pune.

Currently, he is an adjunct faculty member of Bastyr University in Seattle, MMI College of Ayurveda in Watsonville and Vedika Global in Emeryville. He is a member of the Board of Directors of California Association of Ayurvedic Medicine and the Advisory Board of Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America and Light on Ayurveda Journal. He is the best-seller author of “Beginner’s Introduction to Ayurveda” by Keats Publishing.

In 1988, Dr. Shanbhag was awarded the prestigious I.I.M. Gold Medal for his MD-Ayurveda research thesis. In 2008, International Academy of Ayurveda Physicians honored him with the Vishwa Ayurveda Ratna Award. In 2010, he won the Award for Excellence in Ayurvedic Teaching by the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America.

His 16 years of education in Ayurveda, naturopathic medicine & yoga includes 4 years ND at Bastyr University in Seattle, 4 ½ years MD (Ayurveda) at Poona University, 5 ½ years BAMS at Karnataka University & 2 years Yoga Educator at Karnataka University. He integrates Ayurvedic and naturopathic medicine in his clinical practice. He specializes in treatment of chronic diseases and metabolic disorders.
