The SHINE Study: Supporting Health by Integrating Nutrition and Exercise
- Are you overweight?
- Do you eat when you’re not hungry or when stressed?
- Ready to make long-term lifestyle changes to lose weight?
The UCSF SHINE study is seeking overweight adults to participate in a study that includes a novel 6-month weight loss program aimed at helping people make healthy diet and exercise lifestyle changes.
As a participant in the SHINE Study, you would:
- Participate in a 16-session group-based weight loss and wellness program for 6 months
- Meet individually with a dietitian
- Receive a pedometer
- Complete several assessment visits over 18 months
- Get support in making long-term healthy lifestyle choices around diet and exercise to lose weight
- Be compensated for study visits
You may be eligible if:
- You are at least 18 years old
- You are overweight (BMI 30-45)
- You do not have diabetes
