Mindfulness-Based Dementia Care

This brand new 8-week program is specifically designed for professional and family caregivers of persons with dementia (CEUs available). It is also appropriate for healthcare providers and anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of dementia care from a mindfulness perspective. Learn how the practice of mindfulness can help you cope with the challenges and stresses of dementia care, and also greatly improve the experience of the person in your care. This intensive course requires that you practice in between classes. You will be rewarded with a transformative experience that will sustain you over the long course of the dementia journey.

Testimonials

From a professional caregiver: “It’s interesting, after I took your class, I was able to spend much more time practicing, and although I still need to work on it, I feel that my work has become far more enjoyable than it once was. I am able to let the stress ‘roll off’ and go on to the next moment. And one of the residents is kind of my ‘mindfulness barometer’ (!). She will grab my arm sometime when I am passing through and say, ‘You’re not here today! Where are you?’ That’s when I know I’ve gone back to my old ways…”

From a husband: It helped me relate to my wife better. I am more patient and responsive to her needs. I liked that it was specific to dementia care.”
