Patty Moran, PhD

Project Director, Staying Well Study & Care Preferences in Serious Illness Study, Osher Center

Patty Moran, PhD is Research Specialist in the School of Medicine at UCSF. She received a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Iowa in 2000, with a focus on Health Psychology. She completed a clinical internship in Behavioral Medicine at the Palo Alto VA Hospital, and recently completed a two-year fellowship in Psychology and Medicine at UCSF.

Her research interests include psychological adjustment in chronic or serious illness; coping at the end-of-life; and adherence to medical regimens. Dr. Moran is Project Director of the Staying Well Study, an NIH-funded clinical trial examining the benefits of meditation in HIV. She is also the Project Director of the Care Preferences in People Living with Serious Illness Study, an NIH-funded study examining coping and care preferences in individuals with cancer and AIDS and their caregivers.
