Heidi Engel, DPT

Personal Fitness Trainer

Heidi Engel, DPT completed her bachelor's degree in physical therapy in 1987, a certificate master's in international public health program in 1988, and a doctorate in physical therapy in 2007- all from Boston University. She has worked as a physical therapist for UCSF Medical Center part time since 1988 covering all the adult inpatient care areas, currently with special focus on oncology and ICU care.

Heidi is the only physical therapist at UCSF with experience working in every adult inpatient, outpatient, and sports medicine practice providing physical therapy at UCSF. When not working at UCSF, Heidi has provided physical therapy to clients in private practices ranging from small Pilates studios, to large sports medicine facilities.

Currently, she supplements her inpatient hospital based work with fitness assessments for the Osher Center Executive Health Program and outpatient consultations in private home care settings. She is an advocate for Women's Health issues, a photographer, trail runner, and mother of three children.

I integrate my diverse range of experiences from Yoga, Pilates, Sports Medicine, and Hospital based care, into unique treatment programs; incorporating exercise, education, and neurophysiology as the basis for my recommendations. Each person requires an individual approach even if the diagnoses are identical.
