Marcia Degelman, CMT

Massage Therapist
Integrative Medicine Practitioner

Marcia Degelman has been a massage therapist for more than 25 years and is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. She provides both chair and therapeutic massage at the Osher Center and is the massage therapist for the inpatient UCSF pediatric oncology staff. She also teaches Meditation and Guided Visualization to cancer survivors.

She has 1,000 hours of training from The Boulder School of Massage Therapy in Colorado and incorporates many styles of massage into her work including deep swedish, gentle shiatsu, and orthobionomy, a system of muscle tension release through positioning. She is also certified in pregnancy, labor and postpartum massage therapy, and has been in private practice in San Francisco since 1980.

She recently studied "Lymphatic Drainage." She also developed "Light Touch Acu-Therapy," a very light touch along the acupuncture meridians for cancer patients undergoing difficult treatments like chemotherapy or bone marrow transplant, to alleviate pain and discomfort.

She is available to do in-patient massage therapy at Parnassus, as long as the patient has a doctor's note approving it. Additionally, she gives chair massage to the parents of the pediatric patients at Parnassus.
