Michael Acree, PhDSenior Statistician, Department of Medicine, UCSFDirector of the Biostatistics Core, Osher Center Michael Acree, PhD, is Research Specialist in the Department of Medicine at UCSF. He obtained his doctorate from Clark University in psychology, and he has worked primarily in research and teaching as a methodologist and biostatistican. At the UCSF Center on Deafness, he coordinated two major long-term longitudinal research projects and was also principal data analyst for the Center. At the UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies, he had primary responsibility for data analysis in large-scale AIDS-related longitudinal projects and a number of studies conducted jointly with community-based organizations, and was a member of the biostatistics core. He has taught both graduate statistics and qualitative research methods for twelve years, and is completing a book on the history and philosophy of statistical inference. Dr. Acree is Director of the Biostatistics Core at the Osher Center and looks forward to developing methodologies for the study of alternative and complementary medicine.
It will be a glorious day for science, for health, and even for prosperity when the proper role of statistics in medical and psychological research is recognized. I won't see that day, but it is one of the visions toward which I am working.-Michael Acree | ||
