Cancer and Healing: Innovative Theories and Practices of Psychosocial Support Overview: In this two-day conference, four nationally-recognized psychosocial support experts (Jeff Kane, MD, Lawrence LeShan, PhD, Rachel Naomi Remen, MD, Martin L. Rossman, MD, Dipl.Ac.) presented the concepts and techniques of their craft, and included experiential practice for attendees. This activity provided an optional 14 CEUs for RN, MFT, and LCSW; as well as MCEPs for Clinical Psychologists. This conference was sponsored by Healing Journeys the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, and the Ida and Joseph Friend Cancer Resource Center.
Nutrition 2003: An Evidence-based Approach for Clinical Practice Overview: Up-to-date knowledge of nutrition has become increasingly important for modern clinical practice. This course was designed for generalist and specialist physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, dieticians, and other health professionals and provided a focused update of hot topics in clinical nutrition. Herbal Therapies and Dietary Supplements Overview: This evidence-based continuing medical education course was presented jointly for the second time in San Francisco by the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and Harvard University. Internationally recognized experts presented up-to-date evidence on herbal medicines and dietary supplements.
International Scientific Symposium on Complementary, Alternative & Integrative Medicine Research Overview: The Osher Center for Integrative Medicine collaborated with Harvard University for the first international research symposium on integrative medicine in the United States. Researchers from the international CAM community were invited to present their latest peer-reviewed data at this three-day conference. Stephen Stauss, The Director of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine at NIH delivered the keynote address.
