4/7 Dr. Sanford Newmark to Speak on ADHD in Mill Valley

UCSF Osher CenterOn Thursday, April 7, our neurodevelopmental pediatrician and medical director, Dr. Sanford Newmark will be speaking on “The Integrative Care of ADHD” from 7:00-8:30 pm at the Park School at 360 East Blithedale in Mill Valley. This presentation will be part of Mill Valley School District’s “It Takes A Village” series.

In this lecture, you will learn the importance of the Integrative Approach – seeing the child in the context of his/her family, friends, school and community, rather than as a set of symptoms that need to be fixed. Topics will include a discussion of the reasons for the apparent ‘epidemic’ of ADHD and the problems of accurate diagnosis, as well as the benefits and risks of ADHD medications.  Dr. Newmark will then discuss non-pharmaceutical therapies, including:

  • Nutrition
  • Food sensitivities
  • Vitamin and mineral supplements
  • Parenting skills
  • School intervention
  • Other complementary therapies.
