Healthy Lives, Healthy Families Program

The Healthy Lives, Healthy Families Program sponsors a variety of research, education and group programs that support a healthy pregnancy, birth and parenting experience; as well as healthy childhood and adolescence.

This year the program supports:

  • The Mindfulness Childbirth and Parenting Program (MBCP)
MBCP teaches mindfulness-based stress reduction skills to support the greater health and well-being of expectant parents and their developing infant in pregnancy, provide inner skills for managing pain in childbirth, and contribute to the growth of healthy infants, children and families by offering tools that support attuned, caring parent-child relationships and couple harmony. The MBCP Program will also train physicians, nurses, midwives, psychologists and students in these disciplines to become MBCP instructors.
  • Yoga for Body Image and Self Esteem in Adolescence
An eight week pilot study of yoga as an intervention for body image issues leading to depression.
  • Integrative Pediatrics and Adolescent Web Column
Authored by Dr. David Becker, discusses the latest relevant topics in the field of integrative pediatrics and adolescents to help parents and youth make informed and healthy decisions.

Innovative programs for pediatric and adolescent health are crucial for making change in the health of future generations and for the health of our nation. We are so proud to support the Healthy Lives, Healthy Families program at the Osher Center.
