Pathways to Discovery

Pathways to Discovery is an interdisciplinary educational program at UCSF that fosters the pursuit of discovery, inquiry, and innovation as part of the career of every health professional trained at UCSF. Trainees are provided with opportunities for in-depth study and experience in one of several areas of inquiry that go beyond the routine practice of health care.

The Osher Center educational program participates in the Pathway to Discovery in Health and Society (H&S). The H&S Pathway prepares health professionals for careers in which they advance health by engaging society. Specifically, the H&S Pathway supports careers of innovation and discovery through the development of competency in the following substantive areas and skills: 

  • Areas: Health Disparities, Health Systems and Policy, Social and Behavioral Science
  • Skills: Research, Leadership and Advocacy, Community Engagement

All H&S scholars participate in the Pathway's Core Program that includes coursework, mentoring, and project work.
